No Growth / Stunted Growth

When a plant stops growing or produces only small, sparse leaves, it may lack essential resources or be experiencing root issues.

Insufficient Light

Why: Light is the primary energy source for plants. Without adequate light, growth slows dramatically.

Signs to check: Plant has not produced new leaves in weeks, existing leaves are small and pale.

Root Bound

Why: When roots fill the pot entirely, they cannot absorb nutrients efficiently, limiting growth.

Signs to check: Roots visible at the surface or through drainage holes, water runs straight through the pot.

Nutrient Depletion

Why: Over time, potting soil loses nutrients. Without replenishment, plants lack what they need to grow.

Signs to check: Plant has been in the same soil for over a year, leaves may be pale or small.

Dormancy Period

Why: Many plants naturally slow or stop growth during winter months with shorter days.

Signs to check: It is fall or winter, plant is otherwise healthy, no signs of stress.
